Stories in Little Books
A little book can be simply made out of a single sheet of paper - even recycled paper can be used, as only one side of the paper is seen.
The method for creating these books is very simple, and is described here (on our 'A Collection of TESL Resources' website.)
The Little Book can also be created as a Pop-Up book (follow link for instructions), with added interest for the children.
All of these are hand-made, written and illustrated by hand, and provide a great story-writing experience for the children.
The Little Book can also be created on the computer - instructions here. In this case, the teacher can quickly create a short, interesting story about each child. Multiple copies can be printed out, and photos or scanned drawings can be included.
Included here are some Little Books containing stories quickly made up about the children from the Teaching School who visited the IPG. They include photos and scanned drawings from the children themselves.
Printers vary, and so it is possible that they will print out accurately for you, or maybe not. The main problem, I find, is that some printers insist on adding a large margin at the bottom of the page, regardless of how far down the page I push the material. The files below have a second page, but when I print I only print the 'current page'.
I found I needed to make a little book, and print it out a few times making adjustments to make sure that the folds come in the right places. And then I use that as a template for other books.
